                             1795 to 1814 (Meuse-Inférieure département).

19 Apr 1839                Final Act of the London Conference divides the province:
part becomes Belgian, the rest becomes the Duchy of Limburg,
in personal union with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

                             the German Confederation.

Hertogdom Limburg continues in some official use to 1906,
while the style Hertog van Limburg remains incorporated
(tacitly, as part of enz., enz., enz.) into the royal style

¹Despite the fact that the style of Commissaris van de Koning/Koningin (Commissioners of the King/Queen) was formally also introduced in Limburg in 1850, the ancient style of Governor continued - and still continues to be very commonly used, even in official documents, partly
as a consequence of the special position of Limburg in 1839-1867 and partly also as a Limburgian particularism.
